DUO (operating as Justin DeMarchi, sole proprietor, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) runs duo.ca as a marketing site for a services business. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the site and what we do with it. If you have a question, email justin@duo.ca.
Who we are
“DUO”, “we”, and “us” refers to Justin DeMarchi, a sole proprietor based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, operating the business DUO. We are the data controller for personal information collected through duo.ca. You can contact us at justin@duo.ca.
What we collect
Two kinds of personal information.
Information you send us directly. If you email us, message us on LinkedIn, or contact us by WhatsApp using the channels listed on the contact page, we receive whatever you choose to send. That typically includes your name, email address, and the content of your message. We do not run a contact form that stores submissions. Everything you send lands in the inbox or messaging platform you used to reach us.
Information collected automatically. When you visit duo.ca, our analytics tool (PostHog) records technical information about your visit: pages viewed, referring URL, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and how you moved through the site. This is aggregate product analytics, not identification. For a full list of cookies set by the site, see our cookie policy.
How we use it
Information you send us is used to respond to you and, if a working relationship develops, to deliver the service we agree on. We do not add email addresses to marketing lists without consent.
Analytics data is used to understand which content is read, where visitors come from, and what is working. It informs decisions about what to write and what pages to build. It is not sold or shared for advertising purposes.
Who we share it with
The site is built on Next.js and hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes request logs as part of serving the site. Analytics data is processed by PostHog. That is the full list of processors for site data. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertising networks.
If the law requires us to disclose information (a valid court order, for example), we will.
How long we keep it
Email correspondence is retained as long as it is useful for the working relationship, typically in Gmail. Analytics data is retained per PostHog’s default retention window. If you ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, we will, subject to any legal obligation to keep it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email justin@duo.ca. We will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in Canada, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Children
The site is not directed at people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the page. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised version.
